Abby Ausherman (born 1994) grew up in rural Kansas with seven brothers and sisters and learned to love art in college while taking a course over color theory at Hutchinson Community College. She then furthered her education at Emporia State University where she found an appreciation for printmaking and fiber arts as well as many other media.
For four years, she taught art at Independence High School where she found inspiration in her students. In 2022, she started graduate school at Wichita State University where she will be earning an MFA in Studio Arts with an emphasis in printmaking.
Community is important to her as she creates and shares art, and she has found local opportunities in Kansas to both share art as well as learn from others in artist residencies at the Red Barn Studio in Lindsborg and exhibiting art at City Arts in Wichita, Trox Gallery in Emporia, and others.
